I’m glad you stopped by…

Welcome to the Hammond PhotoDesign blog. My name is Dennis and this is the place where I share some of the beautiful moments and memories of the amazing people who have invited me to photograph their lives. It’s a special place for me where each photograph tells a story, each one whispers a message that you can feel. It may be joy or happiness or often love. Everyone experiences a message that is unique to them but one thing remains constant: It’s photography that you can feel.

So if you’re a regular visitor or just passing through take your time and enjoy the photographs. Read the stories and feel the moments. If you would like to drop me a note or make a comment don’t be shy, I would love to hear from you.

P.S. Oh, if you're in the mood for a chuckle you can visit my family blog Hammondville

Memories of Summer

It’s hard to accept that Summer has ended, sad actually. We had so much fun in New Hampshire on vacation, water slides, my son building up the courage to learn how to cannon ball into the pool, Grandma came to visit and fell in love with the kids all over again. So many memories. This slide show is a collection of a few of my favorite moments this Summer. Enjoy.

Addicted to FaceBook

So my wife has been on FaceBook for maybe a couple of months now and I noticed how rabidly addicted she has become.  I would watch quietly over her shoulder from across the room as she got her daily (sometimes hourly) FaceBook fix.  As her addiction grew, so did my curiosity.  Of course, I knew about FaceBook, it wasn’t like I was living under a rock, but I never took the time to explore it.  So for the past few days I started paying more attention to what the Wife was doing on FaceBook.

“Who’s picture is that?”  I asked peering over her shoulder.
“I have no idea.” The Wife said as she clicked through to another picture.
“So, why are you looking at their pictures?”
“Because they’re on my friend’s page and it’s interesting.”  she said.
“I don’t get it.” I shrugged.
“Three degrees of separation.”  She said, still clicking the mouse.  “It’s amazing how connected everyone is. That’s what it is about.”
“ok…but I still don’t get it.”

So today I finally decide to give FaceBook a try.  As soon as I finish signing up I see the pictures of three people under the “People I may know” section.  I had no idea they were on FaceBook.  So I added them.  Within minutes I saw another half a dozen people I knew, so I added them too.  And then the familiar faces kept flooding in.  Hey, I know that guy! Oh, I gotta add her to my friend list! It was like arriving at a party where you knew everybody.  I then added the Wife as my spouse in my Relationship section which required her to confirm our relationship.  It made sense but I found it funny that FaceBook wanted her to confirm that we were “in a relationship”.  Even funnier was that the Wife had to think about accepting the confirmation request!  After some bribery she eventually accepted and I promptly proceeded to raid her friend list.

Anyway, I’ve been on this thing for a couple hours now fiddling with the settings, getting emails from old acquaintances and I hate to say it but there’s a Facebook needle in my arm!  I took the first taste and it got me.  Now, if you’ll excuse me I just found some pictures from a friend’s profile that I need to go look at.

Free to Succeed Tour

It’s a little after 1AM.  I’m sleepy and bleary eyed and I have to get up early in the morning.  But I just got home from David Jay’s Free to Succeed Tour and had to put up this post because it was so awesome!  I wasn’t sure what to expect, I mean I’m familiar with DJ’s philosophy but never fully understood it until this evening when I heard him explain it.  It was really well worth the time (and the hour long drive to Queens, NY) to be a part of what he was sharing with everyone.  Jasmine Star was there and gave an emotional and extremely funny presentation.  She has a wild personality that is energetic and real and I was really moved by her personal story of how she got to this point in her life.  Also, Becker stopped by and gave a preview of his new [b] School project which is like a FaceBook for photographers which looks really slick.  Can’t wait to try it.

I also met some cool photographers, including a fellow Jamaican based in Canada, Carl Reid, from Attached Photography.

Here are a few pics from the show tonight.  ugh…look at the time….off to bed.

Welcome to the Blog

Hi!  Thanks for visiting the Hammond PhotoDesign Blog!

Have you ever seen one of those performance jugglers who is tossing everything from bowling balls to chainsaws all at the same time, standing on one leg?  Well that’s what I’ve been doing preparing Hammond PhotoDesign for launch!  It’s been hectic but exciting because starting this venture is a new experience for me and not a day goes by where I don’t learn something new.  I have a lot of stuff in the pipeline and a few more small tweaks that I need to do but we’re almost there!  So stay tuned more to come.

note to self: sign up for juggling lessons…
